My Current Beauty Favourites

I am really loving the minimal make-up look lately and I really like to keep it simple, light and fresh. I’ve been taking better care of my skin and have noticed that I need a lot less products which is perfect for those mornings where you really need to get out the door. I’ve been loving a bright base with a shimmery eye and nude lip with minimal effort and these products are perfect for that. Each of them live up to my expectations and give me the results I need especially in the cold weather. So without further ado, here are my current beauty favourites –

1. Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream –

This is a new product that’s been released from Clinique recently, and i’ve seen it advertised everywhere. On one of my recent trips to Boots, I spotted it on the Clinique counter, and so naturally I had to pick one up for myself. I really suffer with tired skin and dark circles around my eyes, so this product seemed absolutely perfect for me. It’s a lightweight cream that you can apply with the built in ball-applicator and then blend in with your fingers. The formula is so moisturising and gives an instant feeling of hydration to the skin. The cream is brightening and so soft to touch – it makes me feel like i’m actually doing some good and giving my skin a real treat. This can be used whenever you need a little moisture surge and is perfect for on-the-go, and it’s also fragrance free which I love. I’m getting through this product pretty rapidly as I now use it everyday without fail, so i’ll definitely be going back to get another one.

2. By Terry Hyaluronic Sheer Nude (Hydra-Balm Fill & Plump Lipstick) –

This lip product is a moisturising lip balm and sheer lipstick hybrid. The formula is so soft and buttery which just glides on – to me this is more of a balm than anything else. I apply this mostly as a lip treatment as it always leaves them feeling hydrated and full. I was interested in this product because of the hyaluronic acid element that’s contained in the formula. Hyaluronic acid is said to be an anti-aging and skin plumping agent that is used in makeup, creams and supplements – as well as also being found in almost every part of our bodies. This stood out to me as a product I wanted to try and it hasn’t disappointed. It’s available in a range of nude shades, I have the shade ‘Bare Balm’, as well as a ‘rouge’ range. It has quite a strong perfumed scent but not too much that it puts you off of using the product. Since using this, i’ve noticed that my lips are softer and less prone to being dry. I will definitely be re-purchasing in a couple of other shades.

3. Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer –

This has quickly become one of my favourite products in a really long time. I’ve seen other bloggers rave about this concealer so much but it’s taken me ages to actually try it out for myself – and I’m so glad I did. It says it’s meant to last for 16 hours, which I haven’t tested fully – but it really does last all day for me. I apply this in the morning before I go to work and it stays until I remove it at night. I use it to brighten under my eyes and cover any blemishes. I’ve actually taken to using this concealer more as a base for my skin and have been wearing it without foundation on top. For me, this is a breakthrough product for that reason, as I never usually step out of the door without foundation. I have the shade 1 Fair, and it matches perfectly with my skin tone while giving me medium coverage on my combination skin. It’s creamy and easy to blend, and is great for a highlighter under the eye. And it’s pretty cheap which is a bonus. This product for me really does live up to its hype. I might have to go to Boots and stock pile these up.

4. Rimmel London Glam Eyes HD in ‘022 Brixton Brown’ –

This eyeshadow palette is great to keep in your bag for any occasion. The shades have a warm undertone, and I love the coppery red shade in the middle which is great on its own or to blend into the outer corner of the eye. The shadows are soft and easily blendable which can be used either wet or dry. This means that you can easily go for a neutral-look or a smokey and dramatic eye if you apply the shadows wet. The highlight shade is gorgeous and it really packs a lot of pigment, all for under £7.00 – great if you want quality eyeshadows on a budget.

5. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector (Pressed) in ‘Moonstone’ –

This pressed-powder highlighter is gorgeous. Its creamy texture makes it easy to blend and gives a luminous glow to wherever it’s applied without looking cakey. Although it’s very easy to go overboard with this highlighter so its recommended to apply it in natural light. I’ve never owned a highlighter that is so rich in pigment and really packs a punch. I picked Moonstone because my skintone is very fair so I wasn’t sure how the more golden-toned Becca highlighters such as Champagne Pop and Opal would look. But Moonstone didn’t disappoint – it’s fairly pricey for the size of the compact but the quality of the product means you really don’t need to use much of it and it will last for a long time. I love to use it on my cheekbones and the inner corners of my eyes to give a really pretty glow.

6. Topshop Lipsticks in ‘Petal’ and ‘Nevada’ –

I love the Topshop beauty range, especially their lipsticks. I’ve bought ‘Petal’ a couple of times before and had to repurchase. It’s a light dusky rose-pink shade which may be too light for some people, but I personally think it’s a beautiful light pink that looks great with a darker-eye look. ‘Nevada’ is one that i’ve had my eye on for a while, and is a slightly more orange-toned nude. The lipsticks are very buttery and soft and apply like a dream. They don’t have the best staying power but they really do feel hydrating on the lips and give a lovely sheen of colour. Topshop carries a wide range of colours and tones so there’s plenty of choice. If you’re looking for a budget friendly lipstick, these are ideal.

7. Barry M Nail Paint in ‘341 – Cappuccino’ –

Barry M nail varnishes are quickly becoming a personal favourite. Their colour range and affordable price point makes it so easy to add a few into your basket in one go. I’ve collected a few shades and love how easily they apply. Even with one coat, the colour is opaque enough that you can leave it there, or apply another coat to intensify it further. They dry quickly and last me 4-5 days usually if I look after them. This colour is a glossy cool-toned purple/grey and stood out to me as an everyday wearable shade for any season. I usually switch between reds and mocha shades, and this one fell straight into my default colours.

Thanks for reading!
