Due to the long bank holiday weekend, I’ve had a lot more time on my hands than usual. Today I’m uploading two blogposts, if you haven’t seen my other post today then check it out!
This post is a quick review on the MAC eyeshadows and the custom quad palette. I am a sucker for bronzes, golds and copper eyeshadows and am nearly always drawn to the warmer-toned colour palettes. But I often find that when I buy a palette, there are usually a couple of shades that I don’t use or skip over more than others. If I’m going to spend money on a palette, I’d prefer to get use from every shade included. That’s why the MAC build-your-own eyeshadow palettes are so great and unique.
If you’re not familiar with MAC already, they sell the shadows in individual compacts, or in individual pans that you can use in these customisable palettes. The palettes themselves come in a variety of sizes – I chose the quad size. To go in my palette, I chose ‘All That Glitters’, ‘Sable’, ‘Amber Lights’ and ‘Antiqued’. I feel that these shadows compliment eachother well together, or can be used as a wash of colour on their own.
‘All That Glitters’ is a very popular shimmer shade which is a champagne-gold colour. This shadow is great as a base and as a highlight in the inner corner of the eye. It’s a fairly subtle colour but still catches the light.
‘Sable’ is another very popular colour which is a cooler-toned plum shade in a frost finish. It’s very pigmented and blends easily. I find that this is a lovely colour on its own, but it also works well as a transition shade in a smokey eye look.
‘Amber Lights’ is a beautiful shade for adding a pop of gold/copper to the eye. It’s so pigmented and really stands out against other shadows. I would personally use it to warm up a smokey eye look by blending it onto the lid and under the eye.
‘Antiqued’ is another beautiful shade. It’s a warm-toned coppery brown that looks good on any eye colour. It’s great for adding depth to a smokey eye, or even just on its own blended all over the lid. It has a subtle hint of shimmer but not too overpowering.

I love the freedom you have to create a customised palette with the MAC individual eyeshadows. You can create multiple small palettes or one large palette – all containing your favourite colours to help you create your favourite looks. I used to only go to MAC for their lipsticks, but I am glad I’ve given their eyeshadows a try. I’m definitely a fan of their customisable palettes and will no doubt create some more!
What are your favourite MAC shades?
