5 Winter Lip Saviours

I thought I’d start by saying I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! I for one feel very refreshed and am so ready to start 2017! I feel like this has been a great year for makeup and beauty and am excited to see the releases in the New Year. I do have a couple more blogposts coming up before 2016 finishes, so please follow my blog if you’d like to catch these… But for now, here are my top 5 Winter Lip Saviours…

Winter can be a harsh time of the year for your skin, especially your lips. If you suffer from dry, dehydrated and chapped lips, there are 5 products that could help combat the cold Winter weather. Obviously there are hundreds of lip balms and lipcare products out there, but I have put together my top 5 that have worked for me. These range from cheap drugstore products to your higher end items, so you’re sure to find one that would work for you.

1. Vaseline:

You can’t really beat traditional Vaseline. This lip therapy helps soothe and moisturise dry skin in a compact tin. It’s not only great for lips – you can also use it as a facial treatment, a nail cuticle treatment, a hair dye barrier, a dewy cheek highlighter, a makeup remover, and as a DIY body scrub. Not bad for a couple of quid!

2. Burt’s Bees Lip Balm in ‘Vanilla Bean’:

This was a recent impulse buy at a till in Boots, and I am so glad I spotted it. These are only £3.00-£4.00 but deliver an intense lip treatment which keeps lips soft and hydrated throughout the day. I picked up the Vanilla Bean balm, but they are also available in the standard version and some other scents with a few tinted options. The balm is pretty small but it does pack a punch of moisture.

3. Nivea Pearly Shine:

This balm has been a longstanding favourite of mine, and made it into my My Travel Makeup Bag Essentials and a few other favourites posts. I’ve countlessly repurchased this balm for it’s nourishing and hydrating effect it gives the lips, but not only this, it gives a pretty pearly pink sheen which lightens up the face. Definitely recommended.

4. Tarte Lip Quench in ‘Opal’:

We’re getting a little more on the pricey side with this next product, but it’s definitely worth it in opinion. The Lip Quench from Tarte is a soft gel-like tinted balm that delivers moisture to the lips with a wash of colour. I picked the pale pink shade ‘Opal’, but you can also go for more berry and neutral options. It’s so soft that it can melt in heat, but it still does a good job of hydrating the lips. It has got a minty scent which I love and find to be quite refreshing throughout the day, but if you don’t like scented products this may not be for you. I love to use this on it’s own as a balm-gloss hyrbid. [You can find these on the Tarte website – tartecosmetics.com].

5. Clinique Repairwear Intense Lip Treatment:

This universally flattering lip balm is great for combatting dry lips. It encourages the skin’s natural collagen and is designed to help temporarily fill lip lines so lips are soft and smooth. It’s gel-like formula is nourishing and glides on easily, and it’s fragrance free which I know appeals to a lot of people. You can use this on its own or under other lip products to prime the lips, so it’s pretty handy to have and worth the price in my opinion.

Thanks for reading! I’d love to hear your Winter Lip Care Saviour recommendations!
