Makeup Geek Review: Creme Brulee, Frappe & Cocoa Bear

Happy New Year!

This is my first post of 2017, so I thought i’d start off with some new favourites of mine that were purchased over Christmas – Makeup Geek eyeshadows.

Makeup Geek are an affordable beauty brand from the US that is well renowned for its eyeshadows. They have become daily go-to’s for beauty bloggers everywhere and are a cheaper alternative to the popular MAC shadows that everyone has been obsessed with. I am a self-confessed eyeshadow collector and have heard so many good reviews about these shadows and the Makeup Geek brand. They are affordable but are so soft and intensely pigmented, so naturally, I decided to try them out. I picked up Creme Brulee, Frappe and Cocoa Bear from who are a distributor for Makeup Geek in the UK. I have used these shadows a few times and am very happy with how they blend and perform. I used these 3 shadows for a New Years Eve look, and loved how it came out. I have fallen in love with the formula and the colour Cocoa Bear in particular as it’s so warm and rich and suits any eye colour and complexion. If you’d like to see my review on these shadows along with some swatches, please keep reading!

These shadows are all soft and buttery which makes them easy to apply and to blend. I think that these 3 shadows in particular work perfectly together to build up a warm brown smokey eye. These eyeshadow pans are a similar size to MAC and Anastasia Beverly Hills but for a lot less in price – in the MUG pans you get 0.06 oz. The colours are labelled on the back and are magnetized so they can be easily stored in a Z-Palette or magnetic case.

Makeup Geek – Creme Brulee:

MUG Creme Brulee is a medium sand brown colour in a matte finish with warm undertones. This shadow is great for either a wash of colour on its own, or as a warm transition shade in the crease.

Makeup Geek – Frappe:

MUG Frappe is described as a ‘medium maple brown’ colour that has a demi-matte finish and warm undertones. This colour is also great on its own on the lid, or to deepen a smokey eye and add warmth to the look.

Makeup Geek – Cocoa Bear:

MUG Cocoa Bear is rich, warm brown with red undertones and a matte finish. This colour is my favourite of the 3 as you can use it a couple of different ways. Cocoa Bear is perfect on its own all over the lid for a warm smokey eye, to deepen the outer corner of the eye, or just smudged under the lower lash line. This colour gets a lot of hype in the beauty blogger world, and for good reason!

These Makeup Geek eyeshadows are so affordable and are definitely worth adding to your collection if you’re a neutral or warm eyeshadow lover. They are a great addition and work well to give a variety of different looks. I would 100% recommend these, and would say that these are definitely worth the hype!
